ASAL Padam Oru Alasal

I had been to asal movie yesterday.. I have never written blogs before but the movie motivated me to write one. :)

Movie :

Yet another DON, Billa, Thala type of films. Whole movie has been shot in Paris ( France ) I wonder why these type of films have to always involve a foreign country south Africa ( in ayan), (Mexico) in kandhasamy, Russia in Dhaam dhoom, Malaysia in billa.. I am fed up reading subtitles for foreign languages.

Does the director expect the audience to open their mouths and wonder at foreigners ?

Daddy ajith, has three sons, 1. Ajith ( my god !! please leave this concept or show me one son on earth who exactly resembles his dad ) HERE COMES the title ( ASAL as his dad ) , 2. Villan and 3. another villain. Come on !

Half the budget of the movie I guess would have been spent for buying Black designer suites and black goggles for the actors..

Prabhu has again appeared in this movie .. thank god he is not any police officer this time!!Man he is substituting major sundar rajan these days.

Story if was told to MGR or Jai Shanker or Muthu raman, they would have definitely accepted and would have been a big hit, many years back !!

One good thing is that there are no punch dialogues from AJITH, may be because the tag line of the Movie is ASAL - power of silence !! .

Leaving out the punch dialogue, Ajith of course does all the other heroic acts like the ones below :

1.Impresses the two heroins.

2.Unecessarily involves himself in a car chase scene ( Transporter).

3. French government selects Ajith to Save the Indian high commissioner in France.. ( Similar to “America ve ongala dhan nambirku” by Obama in Tamil padam ).

4.Appears from no where when the comedian and the heroines are in " TROUBLE "..

Definition of Trouble : Villians chase the heroines and they run and run and run until they find a dead end !! they walk backwards towards the dead end wall saying no! no ! no !

5.There are seven villains in this movie !! (Gajini villain, Saroja villain, Newton mooram vidhi villain/ ahaa film hero, a chinese villain, african villain, north Indian villain, another new villan- suresh ( yes the old hero ) ) God ! Obviously ajith doesn’t leave even one alive.. I might have left out few other villains as well.. Please Excuse me this time.

6.Few Villians like in tamil padam do use different weapons like water, fire, giant, current shock. But there is a new type of killing introduced in this film.. North Indian villain turns on the microwave oven to roast a tandoori chicken and in effect of this, the victim of the villain inside another room also gets burnt like a tandoori chicken.. Vow ! what a new concept..But yes, Of course, later Ajith saves Sameera from this micro oven killing.

7.Ajith drops the gun to fight with the villain.. (ondikku ondi )

I suggest saran to watch tamil padam once or to atleast to talk with mirchi shiva or santhanam on heroism. Evlo kalaichalum thirundha maateengala ?

Screen play :

Before watching this movie I was told that this film has a ‘TIGHT’ screen play.. The screen play was to the extent that you could guess that the next scene is going to be a song !

Music:

These are like any other movie songs :

1.First song for sameera to sing and dance while all the DON’s and other black suit guys drink and dance.

2.Kuthu song with Bhavana ( 'totto dain totto dain' is the song’s catchy lines ).

3.I wonder if the lyrics are actually written by vairamuthu..

4.Bharathwaj music is suitable for cheran films ( 'appa appa' song sung by bharadhwaj himself is present in this film too )

5.There is a BGM which comes, whenever Ajith makes a heroic entry and that made me drink coffee in the interval.!

6.I could sense Yeh ishq ( Jab we met ) beats in one of the songs..

7.Same attagasam's " Thala pola varuma" music bit comes often to irritate us..

Ajith:

Ajith doesn’t speak anything for the first few minutes which makes you think if ajith is dumb or something.. May be ajith assumed that this film will also get hit like amarkalam where he remains silent most of the film.. Sorry Ajith !

All actors in the movie for no reason at all keep including “ thala “ word in their dialogues. yes in return u get thala vali.

His hair style resembled senthil in Jai hind film, where the hair style scratches koundamani’s hands when he touches it.not that bad.. but resembles senthil.

I wonder how the heroines could see his face when it is fully covered with beard..

Villian on seeing Ajith gets startled for no reason.. May be after seeing his get up.. ?

Heroines :

Varanam ayiram’s charm in sameera has disappeared in this film.. She acts assistant to Ajith.. similar to nayan in billa..

Bhavana is of course of no use in the film.. except for the two duets she does with ajith.

Sameera here becomes drug adict in this movie after knowing that ajith is dead.. ( dont worry ajith comes alive after interval) .. She made surya, a drug adict in varanam aayiram la so pazhikku pazhi.. ??

Comedy:

Yugi sethu has done the worst ever mokka comedy possible.

You know what ! Yugi sethu also comes as a DON in this Film.. ( heights !! )

In a scene the villain laughs on seeing Yugi sethu for no reason and I guess he must be the only person to laugh at him or at his jokes..

Yugi sethu acting like DON resembles vivek in padikadhavan movie.

I want to mention about the climax in this film..

As the climax was nearing I was worried if paris had any godown or factory or warehouse where ajith could break the glass windows, crush the card board boxes, beat up all the villains..Yes !! It had everything required for climax..Climax happens in a ware house that stores Weapons guns etc..Heroins and prabhu tied up in a chair by the villian..Villian asks prabhu “Avan varuvaana Avan Varuvaana” ..There enters the Ultimate star..

He drops the gun and fights with 20 people.. !!!

I wonder if he or the villain or the 20 people didn’t even get a small gun in such a big warehouse to fire each other..The Villian watches ajith fight with the 20 people from the first floor through a glass window..May be that time he forgot that he owns a weapons factory and could use a gun to kill ajith, Instead after 20 people’s death.. villain ties ajith to a machine and gives him electric shock..

The reason the villain gives for the above act is below :

“ ajith resembles his daddy Ajith and his dad was killed by the villian using electric shock

hence his son must also be killed in the same way .. ( Ultimate thala !! )

Thank god Ajith wasn't vijayanganth to say “enakku shock kodutha current ke shock adikkum.. “

Finally ajith escapes himself from the ties and fights with the villain and saves the good people..

Let me come to the two heroine concept and to the surprise element as to which heroine will ajith marry..

There are few scenes and concepts in this film which clarify this doubt

1.Sameera has one song with ajith while bhavana has two..

2.Sameera is too tall for ajith.. !

3.Ajith keeps kungumam to bhavan when rowdies force him to keep.. sentiment is reached and there is no other go.

4.In the climax, Villain threatens ajith to give all the sothu patharams and documents to him else he says he'll kill ajith..Sameera says dont give but bhavana says "give it otherwise something might happen to you"

Sameera at this point realises that bhavana has the true or real love on Ajith.. Hence she vittu koduthufies..!!

Can't sameera in any film marry the Hero.. !! ? Too bad :( ..

ASAL nu sollittu, all scenes and songs seems to be copied from olden days movies and Latest DON concept movies..

Thala and saran failed to give nice decent movie..

But of course it is helpful for other in many ways like

1. Mirchi shiva can use most of the scenes to make another spoof.. !!

2. Can motivate many others to start blogging like me !!

  14. keerthi,
you saw the film frame by frame even without blinking eyes .and with a vast memory of recent tamil films you compare the characters and given your opinion.
i think you took notes of all scenes or capture important scenes in your mobile and stared bloging.
some of the readers of this critc may escape from seeing this film and thereby the producer met a great loss in collection.
any how it is great attempt . weldone keep it up.

  16. Krithika, this is more than a professional's 'alasal'. Nothing exaggerated. I strongly believe that your views are 'Asal'. The narration is marvelous. I saw in a tamil newspaper's advt. as the title 'AASAL' ...instead of 'Asal'. Your comments will help Ajith fans to save money by not going to see it :) Good job!

  17. so what's and when's your next blog??

  18. U have blasted a commercial formulaic film. Its high time Tamil public discourages such attempts and give support for offbeat films. Very Well written ...
Also, it's quite a healthy trend to see people enjoying full-length-full-nonsense comedy like "Tamil Padam". From your multiple reference to the film I guess you must have been mighty impressed by the movie ! Waiting for your blog on that :)

  19. @Jamist: Thanks. :) Yes i was impressed by tamil padam.
But enna pannradhu.. paaraati ezhudardha vida kalaaichi ezhudhardhu dhan easiya irruku :).

  20. when and what is your next review?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hi Ms. Krithika,

I thought that earlier that you might wrote some value able info., to the public since your blog name was like that... Like our Maestro Ilayaraja's one of the famous album " HOW TO NAME IT ".
Later identified by seeing it that you saved more peoples money but unfortunately i saw the film :(. Everyone will have the views but most of them not exposing that so not yet identified in this world.

Here after Mass heroes can act like this but without the old XXX YYY ZZZ concepts which you updated more on the above review. But sure these types of reviews are not going to the directors / Heroes, i think. If they saw this they will not surely do these kind of mistakes again :) .

You have lots of qualities to write reviews, you can straight away copy this review & add in ur new CV for the Job application (CINE REVIEW) which will sure make you selected for the position. After Madhan your name also familiar then for sure.

All the best for ur bright future life & in ur career, keep blogging!!!

    Thanks & regards,
